Donna Vis is a California-based glass artist and painter whose work highlights the interplay of light and human nature. Her pieces often balance fragility and strength, reflecting inspiration from her studio, the natural world, and collaboration with fellow artists. Her paintings convey emotion, while her glass art explores light and movement. Donna has the honor of collaborating with internationally renowned artists, blending ideas and techniques to continuously evolve her art through experimentation and adaptation. Her creations, born from the heat of the fire and the softness of pastel are deeply influenced by immersive artist residencies. She has nurtured her passion during four professional residencies at the Pilchuck Glass School (Stanwood, WA) and at Ghost Ranch (New Mexico), the iconic home of Georgia O’Keeffe. Additional enrichment to her creative process is gained through pinpointed education in her broad range of interests and through the experiences of world travel. Whether emerging from the heart of creative silence or the energy of collaboration, her works are open windows to our ever-changing world, revealing an artist in constant evolution, guided by an insatiable drive for creation and light. As President and a founding member of the 501(c)(3) Pastel Society of the Gold Coast (PSGC), Donna combines her artistic vision with leadership to partner with organizations such as the Ojai Music Festival and Ojai Land Conservancy. She is a past President of Ventura County Pastel Artists and an active member of several art groups, including SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment) and Studio Channel Islands. Donna’s work can be found in private and public collections. Her studio is located in Somis, California, and visitors are welcome by appointment. Instagram: @Donna_Vis |
